Happamien sulfaattimaiden metallipitoisten valumavesien ympäristövaikutusten vähentäminen kemiallisin ja mikrobiologisin menetelminThe aim of the research is to develop a natural chemical treatment method of acid sulfate soils that change the habitat of sulfur-oxidizing soil bacteria that catalyze the soil oxidation process and that causes significant environmental damage through leaching of acids and toxic metals to surrounding waters. By changing the habitat and making it more optimal for sulfur-reducing bacteria, the acid sulfate soil oxidation process could be discontinued and even reversed. The aims of the research will be reached through several laboratory experiments and thorough geochemical and 16S gene sequencing analyses.
