Efficient medications are a necessity for humans, but also a cause of increasing environmental burden. The risks can be decreased at different points during the lifespan of drugs, from sustainable production and logistics to legislation and structures that steer towards rational use of drugs. However, healthcare professionals and legislators need more information of these processes to be able to make informed decisions. The aim of the book is to increase the understanding and change the attitudes of professionals and legislators towards environmental aspects of medicines and medications, and consequently create a good basis for developing more sustainable practices in the future.
