The project will upgrade the technical systems of Pihabongaus, Finland’s largest citizen science event for nature observation. In Pihabongaus, ordinary people observe their local nature, detect changes in birdlife and understand the causes of these changes. The reform will make it easier to participate in the event and to report observations, and in particular to develop a rich set of results services for the event, linking changes and fluctuations in species occurrence to the factors that influence them, such as changes in habitats and climate, and research. These developments will significantly increase the visibility of Pihabongaus, number of participants, the visibility of the results and the impact of the event.
