Nature-based building innovations can improve the sustainability of construction and help adapt to the consequences of climate change, especially in urban environments. However, these innovations have slowly become more common both in Finland and internationally. The use of nature-based solutions is significantly influenced by, for example, the climate conditions of the area, so in addition to international guidelines, research tailored to local conditions is needed. The LUONTAISET project produces new information on the factors influencing the market development of nature-based building innovations in Finland and on the challenges and opportunities related to their implementation from the perspectives of different actors. The data used include literature, interviews, and a citizen survey. The information produced in the project promotes opportunities for the wider use of nature-based building innovations to strengthen urban sustainability, biodiversity and the well-being of residents.
